Situation:
Our client wanted to shoot a commercial in High Definition
(HD) but was limited to a Standard Definition (SD) budget.
The treatment was not complicated since it was mostly shots
of testimonials and product.
There were no plans to air on any
national or HD networks just within the regional and local
areas. Our client was concern about the look of the commercial
and wanted the clarity that HD has to offer.
Solution:
It happens! Budget issues can be the limitation of a great
idea but not necessarily the killer. As we helped our client
clarify his wants and needs, we were able to find a solution
that satisfied his vision without compromising his budget.
We offered a different format that is called DVCPro-50, a
SD format that was "near" HD. This format is richer
and sharper than the usual SD-25bit format because it records
twice the information that a 25bit SD Camera offers. We also
shot in 24p (24 Frames, Progressive) which gave a "film
look" to the footage. Ultimately, we were able to raise
the production value via the look and feel of the commercial
while the
remaining within a extremely affordable budget.
